In February 2023, Montgomery County Police arrested Dr. Ishtiaq Malik on rape and sexual assault charges stemming from allegations on two separate dates when he examined patients at Advanced Walk-in Urgent Care on Lockwood Drive in Silver Spring. Since his arrest, reports are that nine more women have come forward describing inappropriate conduct. On June 1, 2023, a judge in Dr. Malik’s rape case denied Dr. Malik’s request for bond after weighing the danger that Dr. Malik poses to the community.
In addition to these recent allegations, news outlets are reporting that Dr. Malik was sued in 2013 for healthcare fraud by the Department of Justice and ordered to pay $17 million and in 2019, the Maryland State Board of Physicians suspended his medical license.
The Cochran Firm secured a $190 Million settlement as a member of the Plaintiffs Steering Committee on behalf of over 8,000 female victims being secretly videotaped by a Johns Hopkins University doctor.
