Montgomery County after school counselor arrested for molesting 5-year old child

Raul Alejandro Ramos from Silver Spring charged

Montgomery County Police arrested 21-year old Raul Alejandro Ramos of Silver Spring for allegedly molesting a 5-year old girl during a private after school program held in Rockville, Maryland. According to reports, the sex abuse took place during a game of tag and may not have been the first time an incident like this took place.

Police charged the perpetrator with third-degree sexual offense for the alleged incidents between August 29 and October 31. The abuse took place at Flower Valley Elementary School during the “Kids After Hours” program held on school grounds.

The Cochran Firm, D.C. investigating latest sexual abuse allegations at Maryland schools

Sadly, this case marks only the latest in a series of heartbreaking incidents at Maryland public schools in the Washington, D.C. area. Recently, a school bus aide was charged with molesting at least two young children aboard a James Ryder Randall Elementary School bus and another school aid was charged with state and federal child pornography and abuse offenses at Judge Sylvania Woods Elementary School.

The child sexual abuse attorneys of The Cochran Firm, D.C. represent several families from those two incidents and are investigating this latest incident in the fight against child abuse. As some of the most vulnerable members of society, children must be protected and our attorneys have absolutely zero tolerance for crimes perpetrated against children.

Kids After Hours sex abuse scandal

Reports suggest the alleged abuser worked for Kids After Hours since October 2014. The Wheaton-based childcare program, owned by Bob Sickels, serves 153 students just at Flower Valley Elementary School alone along with another 1,500 nationwide.
Employers have a legal duty to take reasonable steps to insure the individuals working in their organizations do not pose a threat to their coworkers or patrons. Often times, victims can hold the employer or organization which hired the alleged bad actor legally responsible for their negligence in court.

While nothing can undo the harm caused, our society none the less prescribes civil lawsuits as the remedy to recover compensation and hold wrongdoers accountable for their indifference to the safety of others.
