Francis C. Evans was born on December 12, 1938 in Staten Island, New York. He attended Princeton University and graduated in 1959, cum laude. He attended medical school at Harvard University and graduated in 1963. Dr. Evans did three years of residency in general surgery on the Harvard Service, Boston City Hospital, from 1963-1966. He did his third fourth and fifth year residencies in general surgery at Hartford Hospital in Connecticut from 1966-1969. Dr. Evans had the distinction to be the “Chief Resident” during his fifth year of residency.

Following his residency, Dr. Evans went to Vietnam where he achieved the rank of Major in the U.S. Army Medical Corps. He was attached to the 27th Surgical Hospital in Chu Lai, Vietnam from 1969-1970 and the Patterson Army Hospital in Fort Monmouth NJ from 1970-1971.
After his service in the military, Dr. Evans was board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery in 1971. Since 1971, Dr. Evans has been in private practice for more than thirty years in New York, New Hampshire and Georgia. Dr. Evans has held medical licenses in five states: Georgia, New Hampshire, New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.
Dr. Evans has held many prestigious positions on many hospital staffs including the Chief of Surgery(1978-1998) and Past President of the Medical Staff at New London Hospital in New Hampshire; Member of the Pharmaceutical and Therapeutics Committee and Joint Oncology Committee at Emory Peachtree Regional Hospital in Newnan, Georgia.
Dr. Evans has also been an active member in many professional organizations. He is a past president of the American College of Surgeons, New Hampshire Chapter; American Medical Association, Chair, Georgia Organized Hospital Medical Staff Section, Chair, New Hampshire Organized Hospital Medical Staff Section; New Hampshire Medical Society, Chair, Council on Medical Service and Chair, Hospital Medical Staff Section. He has also held several Trusteeships and Directorships including the Chair of the State Physicians’ Advisory Committee, New Hampshire Hospital Association; and Director, Blue Shield of Northeastern New York.
Dr. Evans has also been the recipient of several prestigious awards. In 1986, he received the New Hampshire Hospital Association’s Medical Staff Award. He has also continuously held the American Medical Association’s Physician’s Recognition Award since 1969. He was also the recipient of the Margaret Sanger Award, Planned Parenthood of Essex County, NY in 1976.
Finally, Dr. Evans has written two articles which have been published in national medical journals, including an article on Pancreatic Abscess which was published in the world reknown American Journal of Surgery.
